Another stunning pipe opal from Queensland, Australia! Love the rainbow of colors here. I set it simply in argentium* sterling silver and added a fringe of stones on headpins that move and highlight some of the many colors in the opal. Fringe stones I've used are apatite, tanzanite, pink sapphire, welo opal, spessartite garnet and mixed tourmalines. The pendant measure 1 1/4" wide and 3/4" tall. It suspends from a chain that adjusts from 16 to 18 inches.
*Argentium sterling silver is a silver alloy where most of the copper has been replaced by germanium which lends greatly enhanced tarnish resistance over standard sterling. It is .935 silver--more pure silver than .925 sterling. In addition, argentium sterling is produced using only recycled silver.
