I've held on to this black rutilated quartz, or tourmalinated quartz, for far too long. It's teeming with black needles darting beneath the surface and I thought it would look smashing set in 22k gold with an oxidized silver frame. The subtle colors in the ethiopian opals made for an unexpected fringe while keeping the colors of the ring somewhat neutral. The headpins wrapping the opals are 18k gold. The ring measures a US size 6 1/2.
