The dendrites in this agate spring forth like an exotic blooming flower. I have framed it in 18k gold and silver. The arcs in the agate's frame are are reflected in four gem weave arcs of aquamarine, champagne citrine and hackmanite* that take center stage in this handlinked chain. The stones are woven in my signature style with gold fill wire. The chain is completed by silver wrapped pebbles and faceted nuggets of aquamarine and chalcedony.
The necklace adjusts from 17 to 19 inches
*Hackmanite is a variety of sodalite. Hackmanite displays a quality known as tenebrescence, or reversible photochromism. It can temporarily change color after exposure to sunlight or other uv light. I tested these stones by placing them outside for 12 hours. The darker blue stones turned purplish after exposure to hours in the sun and slowly returned to blue over several days time. It can be an interesting phenomenon to observe but personally, I adore the shades of blue as is.
