Generally when I begin to build a new piece, I start by gathering one or two stones as the focus. For this cuff, the gorgeous violet boulder opal measuring over 6 carats and wrapped in 22k gold, was the inspirational stone. It has flashes of blue when it moves under light so the combination with the lavender turquoise felt right. The gorgeous patterning of the dendritic agate added an earthy color balance and I wrapped it in 22k as well.
I arranged the stones as in a floral spray: an oval amethyst and iolite, also wrapped in 22k, each branch off the center. 18k gold topped leaves and various silver and gold details add botanical whimsy. At the center of the spray is a cluster of amethyst and arizona turquoise on 14k pins. The silver frame is oxidized for maximum contrast.
This cuff measures 2 1/8 x 2 inches interior circumference with a 1 1/8 inch opening to fit an average wrist.
