I purchased these Australian pipe crystal opals separately, but thought they'd be just great paired for earrings. I set them in oxidized silver to bring out maximum color. I fused tiny silver balls and thin wire to silver sheet metal to create one of my favorite annual flowers--cosmos. Clusters of pink sapphire and apatite at the flower's center reflect colors found in the opals below. 14k gold earwires.
These flowers measure just under 1 1/4 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches tall. The opals combine to weigh 3.3 carats and measure 8-9mm x 11mm's.
